Bonded Carbon Filters
Bonded carbon filters produce "no filter dust " normally associated with carbon filtration. In the past, a HEPA "after" filter was required to protect applications from carbon dust. AirClean® has eliminated this problem with "breakthrough bonded carbon technology". Bonded carbon filters are solid blocks of activated coconut shell carbon that is held in a solid and predictable matrix via a proprietary binder. The filter has the same life as a granular carbon filter however the
carbon is much more evenly distributed within the filter eliminating "dead areas" found in granular carbon filters.
Granular Carbon Filters
Granular carbon filters are less expensive to manufacture than bonded carbon filters and offer a low cost alternative where carbon dust will not be a problem. Granular carbon can also be used for high capacity applications where large volumes of carbon are needed. Example: a filter bed for a total exhaust system.
Hybrid Filters
AirClean®'s new hybrid filters (patent pending) offer a unique method to combine the dust control of bonded carbon with a high capacity of fine granulated carbon. This unique combination allows for large filter beds without high pressure drops and enables AirClean® to provide "cocktail" filters for a range of target chemicals. Hybrid "Safe Filters"
Hybrid "safe filters" allow for monitoring within the filter to estimate the remaining life of the filter. Filters may then be changed before breakthrough occurs allowing the user time to order new filters in preparation for filter change. The system may be monitored automatically by the internal gas detector or alternately a manual sample may be taken from the external monitoring port. Hybrid safe filters also have a higher capacity than the standard filters. (see filter list for capacity ratings)
